Most general-purpose controllers force a trade-off: enough I/O to be useful, or fast enough development to hit a program timeline, rarely both. The New Eagle GCM48 is built to avoid that trade-off — a rugged, production-grade control module with 6 CAN buses and 17 configurable I/O, developed through a MATLAB/Simulink workflow designed to get an application from model to running hardware quickly. As New Eagle's exclusive UK and EU partner, EMB Power supplies the GCM48 and does the engineering work — system design, embedded controls, harness and integration support — that turns the hardware into a working vehicle system.

## What the GCM48-2104 actually does

The GCM48-2104 (P/N GCM-5605B-048-2104) is one of New Eagle's Raptor™ rugged production controllers — built for automotive, off-highway and marine environments, not just the bench. It's a general-purpose module: 12 analog inputs, 4 frequency/digital inputs, a wake input, seven low-side driver outputs, a dedicated fuel-level actuation output, and an H-bridge driver, alongside 6 CAN 2.0 channels and 3 LIN channels (2 master, 1 slave). That breadth of I/O is what makes it "general-purpose" in practice — one module covering sensor inputs, relay/solenoid drives, and multi-network communication rather than needing several point-solution controllers.

- Aluminum construction, IP6k7 environmental rating, and a −40°C to 105°C operating range built for under-hood and marine conditions.
- Development on Raptor-Dev with MATLAB/Simulink, using automatic integration and code generation rather than hand-written embedded C.
- Wake-on-CAN2 and wake-on-LIN2 for low-power sleep management in a vehicle electrical system.

## Why the development workflow matters as much as the hardware

The hardware spec is only half the story. What makes the GCM48 genuinely useful on a real programme is that it's designed around Raptor-Dev's Simulink-based development process: model the control logic, auto-generate and integrate the code, then test it in simulation before it ever touches the vehicle. That's where EMB Power's own engineering work sits — taking a control module like this and building the actual application software, electrical architecture and integration around it for a specific platform, rather than treating it as an off-the-shelf plug-and-play part.
